Pat Robertson Makes Less Sense

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the following video in Pat Robertson Makes Some Sense

I showed that the drug laws do not seem to decrease the availability of marijuana. A better argument can be made that the drug laws increase the availability of marijuana.

CLARIFICATION OF MARIJUANA COMMENTS:

Dr. Robertson did not call for the decriminalization of marijuana. He was advocating that our government revisit the severity of the existing laws because mandatory drug sentences do harm to many young people who go to prison and come out as hardened criminals. He was also pointing out that these mandatory sentences needlessly cost our government millions of dollars when there are better approaches available.[1]

The problem is more serious than the mandatory sentences, but opposing mandatory sentencing is important. Mandatory sentencing is just a form of zero tolerance, which I have written about here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.
